Beyond the words
I’ve been writing copy and content for brands for over a decade. But I don’t spend my life sitting at a screen – here’s a little insight into the person behind the keyboard.
From growing up in the rainy Lake District to working in London, Bristol and Cornwall, I’ve lived all over the UK. I don’t know where I’ll end up next, but the beauty of my job is that I can write for you anywhere – whether you’re across county lines or continents.
One of my earliest memories is typing a story that began with ‘Once upon a time…’ at my Mum’s computer – back when they were big grey boxes. Some might say that the writing was on the wall…
Party trick? It’s got to be lipreading. Okay, I’m profoundly deaf and wear hearing aids so I do rely on it, but here’s the rub – it means I really understand the importance of clear communication.
My guilty writing pleasure is painting a picture with words - there’s nothing like evocative imagery that captures your emotions and transports you to a different place or time.
When I’m not working my little socks off for you, you’ll find me outdoors with my husband, kids and dog in tow. Bonus points if we end up at a pub.
I love fitness and have been known to partake in in team Crossfit competitions. Other than that, I run (slowly), ski (fast) and ride my road bike when I get a chance.
I have a passion for beautifully styled interiors and unexpected, joy-inducing spaces. You can often find me advising friends and family on everything from paint colours to upholstery swatches.
I’m a total vinophile, and once even cried at a wine tasting. In my defence, my son had been depriving me of grape juice for 9. Whole. Months. If I wasn’t a copywriter, I reckon I’d have been a vintner or a sommelier.
Some of my most treasured memories are in South Africa, travelling The Garden Route with my family, filling sun-soaked days with hiking trails, good food and even better wine.
You can always win me over with a flat white and an almond croissant.
